Rules

Welcome, Drivers!

Our admin team is committed to providing everyone with a friendly and respectful environment for racing. As we continue to grow, we recognize the need for clear rules to ensure everything runs smoothly. We improve every week, and our goal is for everyone to know exactly what’s expected from them and what they can expect from us.

Drivers:

● Attendency: Our goal is to have a great championship. This is only possible when we have steady drivers. Of course it's possible to skip a race or two, for whatever reason. We expect drivers to attend at least 75% of the races. If a driver misses more than that, he risks being transfered to reserve driver.

● Participating as a reserve driver: For drivers who are competing in division 1, it is not allowed to take part in division 2 as a reserve driver. Drivers of division 1 are faster than the drivers in division 2, they will influence the division 2 championship way too much. Drivers from division 2 should be fighting for the podium, not reserve drivers, at least not in division 2. However, drivers from division 2 can participate as a reserve driver in division 1. It's an oppertunity to see if they are ready for it. For them we have to agree that they need to be extremely careful. Of course they shouldn't influence the championship of division 1 either.

Discord Server Rules:

Positive Vibes Only: Races can be frustrating, and accidents happen. If your race is affected by another driver, please avoid venting your frustrations in the chat. Instead, report incidents to the stewards. A simple “sorry” is fine, but do not engage in long discussions.

No Blame Culture: Do not criticize anyone for submitting an incident report. All incidents will be reviewed and judged by the stewards, just as they are in real-world motorsports.

No Incident Videos in Chat: Posting or streaming videos of incidents on the Discord is not allowed. This can lead to arguments or cause drivers to feel excluded.

Support Each Other: We are all on a learning journey, so help one another out whenever possible.

No Unrelated Advertising: Only league-related content may be advertised on the Discord.

Before the race:

● Briefing: There will be a short briefing, at the "Briefing room", before every race. This will be during the practise time before quali. (This 15 minutes of practise is set only to give drivers enough time to join. Real practise should be finished by then. We expect our drivers to join the briefing at the discord's "briefing channel" at 18:45 Amsterdam time zone. (Our winter- and Summertime is not the same, it will be changed 2 times a year. Therefore I will never refer to UTC.

On track:

‎ ● Follow WSS Rules: We adhere to the World Sim Series (WSS) rules. Please read and familiarize yourself with them. All incidents will be judged based on WSS standards. Race clean and fair and everything will be fine.

WSS Rules: https://blog.worldsimseries.com/rules

Exceptions: There are a couple of exceptions in the rules that are different at MRV Motorsport.

Definitions:

- A car is considered "fully" ahead when his rear tires are in front of the front tires of the other car.

- A car is considered "truely" ahead when his front tires are in front of the front tires of the other car.

- A car is considered next to the other when his front tires are in front of the rear tires of the other car.

  1. The driver in front decides the racing line, also in side by side racing. (We are talking about the straights here): In WSS you can put the nose of your car beside the rear bumper of another car and from that moment, the car behind can hold that line. This is not right. It compromises defending lines for the car who is in front too much. At MRV Motorsport we do it as follows: The car in front can decide his desired racing line. However, when another car is next to you, you can either hold your line, or move to the outside. You have to do it in a predictable way with no sudden movements. This means: Give the other driver time to react, but you both know that the driver in front can choose his line. Keep in mind that you always have to leave one carwidth of space when there is another car next to you. Moving to the inside is not allowed when another car is next to you. You cannot squeeze someone else to the inside.
  2. Moving in the braking zone: Moving in the braking zone is slightly accepted, but when there is another car next to you, you can only either hold your line, or move slighlty to the outside. Again: You have to do it in a predictable way with no sudden movements. This means: Give the other driver time to react, but you both know that the driver in front can take some extra space before steering into the corner. (Think about Verstappen VS Norris in Austria 2024). Keep in mind that you always have to leave one carwidth of space when there is another car next to you. When there is a car on your inside in the braking zone, moving to the inside is not allowed. You cannot squeeze someone else to the inside in the braking zone! You have to leave space at the inside of the upcoming corner anyway. I refer to point 3.
  3. Claiming the apex when you are on the outside: The outside car can only claim the apex when he is "fully" ahead of the other car. IMPORTANT!! We are talking about the moment of initial turn in!! So, watch out for your wings!
  4. Making a move in a corner as the inside car: The inside car can only claim space on the inside when he is next to the other car, otherwise he shouldn't be there at all. The inside car needs to stay on the inside of that corner! Only from the moment he is "truely" ahead, he can move to the outside, but still needs to leave at least 1 carwidth of space on the outside, until he is "fully" ahead!
  5. Making a move in a corner as the outside car: A car on the outside can only claim space on the outside from the moment and while he is next to the other car.
  6. Claiming the outside of the exit of a corner: The inside car can only claim space at the outside of the exit of a corner from the moment he is "fully ahead" of another car, otherwise he has to leave space on the outside. IMPORTANT!! The inside car can only take the outside from the moment he is considered fully ahead!! So, watch out for your wings! Cars next to each other simply needs to leave space for each other. We will not fight for who is in front at the exit of a corner, to be in the right.
  7. Half moves: Don't make "Half-Moves"!! Don't force the other driver to take the responsability to avoid contact while that responsability is yours!!
  8. Dive bomb: In case of a dive-bomb, make sure you are "truely" ahead at the apex!! (Basic WSS rules).

● Track limits:

  1. Crossing the white line with four tires is invalidating track limits and will result in a penalty. EVEN when "real penalty" doesn't cover it sometimes. However, we keep into account if there was time gained. No time gained will not be penalised. Be careful: Creating dangerous situations to avoid a penalty or warning can result in a penalty.
  2. Crossing the pit entrance line, or the pit exit line is not allowed. Going over these lines with 2 tires is already too much.

Helicorsa, or radar is mandatory: To race side by side "Helicorsa", or "Radar" is really nescessary. Only when you are on tripple screens, or VR it's possible to drive side by side without an app like this.

Virtual mirror is mandatory for unexperienced drivers: I believe helicorsa is enough for experienced drivers, but for drivers who will be lapped, it's important to see if the leaders are coming. Also in quali it's important to see if someone on a fast lap is approching.

After the Race:

‎ ● Cool-down room: I think it's a little impersonal to show up for the races only. Therefore I like to encourage the drivers to come to "MRV Motorsport's discord" after the race. In the "Cooldown room" drivers can discuss how their races went.

‎ ● Interviews: At least the top 3 will be dragged into the "Interview room". Here they will get some questions about the race. If you are not finished in the top 3, it will still be appreciated when you want to be interviewed. Especially when there were some beautiful, or important moments in your race. It's nice to talk about your race in general and it will be very usefull for me to have a clear view of what is important to show at the replay. (We will implement this when we find a regular commentator/interviewer).

‎ ● Incident Reporting: If an accident or rule violation occurs, replay the event and screen record it. ("OBS Studio" is a great free high resolution and high FPS screen recorder. I definitaly recomment this one). Make sure “Driver Names” are visible and show two views: one from your perspective and one from the other driver's perspective in 3rd person view. If needed, you may request a copy of the replay from another driver. Reports system of WSS is used. It is also explained there.

Submitting Reports: Once the recording is ready, reports can be sent using the WSS reports system. You can do this until 24 hours after the race. Then the opportunaty to report will be over. You can use a link of "we transfer", or upload it to your youtube channel and send that link in the report. Don't forget to add a explaination of what happened in your own words. Also add a the lap of the incident, (this is not in WSS rules).

Stewards:

I. Malone will act as a steward. After a report has been reviewed it will be updated to the race results automatically. You can check the outcome there. Sometimes examples will be shared with the community, by the race instructor, for educational purposes only. The race instructor will not use any names.

With kind regards,

I. Malone (Malone), League Director / Race instructor / Founder of MRV Motorsport.
